Hi All,
We have reversed a bonus commission payment on an employee who participates in 401k. The gross amount was higher than it should have been. All subsequent process had been executed. We reversed this check. We then processed a corrected amount on the bonus commission payment. This check was for half the amount as the first one. (2 offcycle bonus payments on different days with the first one being reversed. All subsequent processing occurred on the 2nd run as well. )
A few days later on 8/11/2014 we processed a regular payroll. The calculation program deducted an incorrect (huge) 401k amount.
During review:
1st off cycle = 3337.05 401k Withheld.
2nd off cycle = 1816.05 401k withheld.
Regular payroll = 2275.58 401k withheld on check stub, recon shows 1061.47 refund of 401k.
The actual withholding on a normal payroll run should have been 273.35.
It appears that for some reason the 3337.05 on the first check that was reversed... did not get a 401k reversal. I do not understand why we did not get an adjustment for that withholding on the reversal.
We have paid this Employee with an AP check. I have made manual entries on PU19. Should I delete these and use transaction PAUX to adjust his payroll check and W2?
Since we have our 401k plan set up to withhold a % and not a set amount, I am not sure how to adjust his record or how to record the money paid to him as a 401k refund.
Thanks in advance,
Connie
